WHEELS: A SECOND CYCLE.

Oxford: B. H. Blackwell, 1917. First edition. Publisher's original pictorial paper-covered boards, paper title on upper panel with black cloth spine. Cover design by C. W. Beaumont. viii, 9 - 117, [3] pp.; publisher's two page list. Price label on front panel, ownership signature (F. Bridges / 1918) on front free endpaper; covers soiled and worn, edges of boards nicked in several places, internally clean, solid and unmarked, a good or better copy.

First edition. Limited to 500 copies, the scarce second volume in the influential Wheels anthology series edited by Edith Sitwell. This volume marks a key early literary appearance of Aldous Huxley (contributing nine poems prior to his rise as a major novelist), alongside significant work by the Sitwell siblings—Edith, Osbert, and Sacheverell; Iris Tree, Sherard Vines, and Helen Rootham. It also features a poignant posthumous war poem, "The Mad Soldier," by E. W. Tennant, who was killed at the Somme in 1916. Good. Item #881
