Duncan Grant was her father, although she had been told and assumed it was Clive Bell until she was advised otherwise as a young adult. Angelica married her father's former lover, David "Bunny" Grant, who had been present at her birth at the family's Charleston Farmhouse in East Sussex on Christmas Day, 1918, is said to have announced upon meeting Angelica in her cradle that he intended to marry her.
