Ostensibly an alphabet book for the savvy adult. Border and initial letters by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue and end papers and cover design by E. B. Bird, printed by the Heintzemann Press in Boston in November 1899. Small nick on front cover and at the fore-edge; some signatures are shaken at the hinges but not broken; unfortunate book plate of Leonard Sanford Tyler on front free endpaper (Tyler Kipling Collection) with his penciled private library notations. Tyler's personal library card for this book laid in. Tyler was the grandson of John J. Audubon. Good. Item #799
