Trotsky’s contemporaneous account of the Brest-Litovsk negotiations between the nascent Soviet government and the German command—written on-site in early 1918 while the Eastern Front collapsed. Addressed to German workers and soldiers, this polemical pamphlet defends revolutionary diplomacy against opposition from the German and Russian left. Later distributed globally by the Comintern, but scarce due to Stalinist suppression. Rare surviving example of the Swiss issue published the same year as the German original.
