First edition, first impression. The Zone of Interest by Martin Amis [1949-2023] is a novel set during World War II, focusing on the events within the Auschwitz concentration camp. The narrative examines the lives of Nazi officers and their families who reside near the camp, contrasting their daily routines with the conditions faced by Holocaust victims. The book was adapted into a film around the time of its publication in 2014, with filming taking place mainly around the Auschwitz concentration camp in 2021. Upon release in 2023, it received numerous nominations for Academy Awards, winning two in 2024; it also won the Grand Prix at Cannes and three British Academy Film Awards, among other accolades and awards.
