First edition, first impression. Siegfried Sassoon enjoyed writing letters, Max Beerbohm less so. This is a record of a friendship of some thirty years of two fine writers of the twentieth century. Included are Sassoon's diary entries regarding an idyllic two week visit to the Beerbohms in Rapallo, Italy in 1937, and concludes with his tribute to Beerbohm broadcast in August after his death on 20 May 1956.
