GOLDSWORTHY LOWES DICKINSON.
London: Edward Arnold & Co., 1934. Thick octavo. Navy cloth, gilt spine. x,277,[1] pp. Frontispiece portrait by Roger Fry, numerous photographic plates and facsimiles. Presentation copy from Forster to Fry, "Roger from Morgan / 13-4-34," written on the second free endpaper. Forster was a friend to Dickinson for 35 years, and his literary executor. Much has been written about his relationship with Fry -- Dickinson loved him, Fry liked him as a friend. All three men were members of the Cambridge Apostles.
First edition. A decidedly unlovely copy with bubbles in the cloth, and evidence of the occupation of bookworms through to the title page, in a ripped and chipped dust jacket which retains its price, just a good copy from the library of Roger Fry with a priceless inscription. Lately from the library of the noted Bloomsbury collector William Beekman, with his bookplate to the front pastedown. Item #599
Price: $1,200.00
