[Autograph note, signed, from:] HAROLD NICOLSON TO CLIVE BELL [with] BELL'S SIGNED NOTE ON VERSO.

London: The Authors, 1937. Cream colored paper note, 4 x 6". On the left margin is the Garrick Club logo, printed in blue: A globe with the statement, "All the World's a Stage" on a banner below the globe, and the monogram GARRICK CLUB, W.C.2. on the right margin. From the files of the noted Bloomsbury / Hogarth Press collector, William Beekman. Previously folded for mailing, else near fine.

Here, Nicolson is responding to an invitation from Clive Bell to dine, dated, in manuscript above the club monogram, "April.16.37." He continues, "My dear Clive, I shall love to dine on the 29th at 8.15. I am feeling slop-sided & a touch of Bloomsbury is like Violet says. [Undecipherable] Harold. On the verso is: "'Harold' is Harold Nicolson / Clive Bell May. 1937." Seems Mr. Bell was an autograph collector! Lovely piece of authentic Bloomsbury historical paper ephemera. Item #367
