Giles Lytton Strachey (1880-1932) English writer, critic, and founding member of the Bloomsbury Group was also the author of EMINENT VICTORIANS, in which he established a new form of biography in which psychological insight and sympathy are combined with irreverence and his special brand of wit. His biography QUEEN VICTORIA (1921) was awarded the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. Strachey died on 21 January 1932, aged 51. It is reported that his final words were: "If this is dying, then I don't think much of it." -- [Unknown]. Item #288
